Ahuachapán Department

Ahuachapán department (see map) resides in the westernmost part of El Salvador, sharing a border with the Santa Ana department to the east/northeast; Sonsonate department to the east and south; Pacific Ocean to the south; and Guatemala to the west.

The capital of Ahuachapán department is the city Ahuachapán, and the department is sub-divided into 11 municipalities: Ahuachapán - Apaneca - Atiquizaya - Concepción de Ataco - El Refugio - Guaymango - Jujutla - San Francisco Menéndez - San Lorenzo - San Pedro Puxtla - Tacuba - Turín.
